Technology Transfer
The ECE Department has the people and resources to help solve complex technical problems facing business and industry today. The expertise of our faculty encompasses traditional and cutting-edge fields, including biomedical devices and systems, computer engineering, energy systems and power electronics, photonics, microelectronics, communications, and signal processing.
Expertise and technologies developed at the University of Minnesota are transferred to society in many ways, including, academic publications, education, and licensing of technologies for development into commercial products. ECE has a history of developing technologies which have been patented, licensed, and commercialized. Examples of these technologies include:

- Nanoimprint Lithography Methods
- Global File System and Data Storage Device Locks
- Digital Signal Processor with Delayed-evaluation Array
